MANATEE COUNTY, FL. – A woman has been charged with battery after slapping a deputy while she was being processed in the Manatee County Jail.

It happened around 10:45pm Tuesday at the Manatee County Jail.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, a female deputy was in the process of fingerprinting and photographing new arrestee Katina Collins on a petit theft charge.

While trying to photograph her, Collins became agitated and stated that she wasn’t going to have her picture taken any more.

The deputy explained to Collins that her picture had to be taken for her charges. While explaining this to her, Katina became aggressive and started to move around the room. The deputy tried to calm her down, but Collins put her hand up and slapped the deputy in the face, causing her glasses to break and leaving a red mark on her forehead and lip.

Collins was charged with Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer.

Collins had also been arrested on the same charge two weeks ago, according to sheriff's office records.
