BRADENTON, Fla. - A Bradenton man upset over comments made to his daughter by a neighbor was charged with Aggravated Assault Tuesday after threatening to kill the man.
According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, the 11-year-old daughter of 31-year-old Timothy Sims was riding her bicycle outside their home in the 600 block of 33rd Avenue East on Tuesday afternoon.
That's when a 48-year-old man who was across the street walking his dog reportedly told the girl to "come here, come here."
The girl instead went inside and told her father, who responded by grabbing a handgun and heading to the man's home a few blocks away, where deputies say he threatened to kill the man and pointed the gun at a dog.
Police later found Sims at his home, where he denied the accusations.
He was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Armed Trespass, and Carrying a Concealed Firearm.
Authorities determined that the other man's actions were suspicious, but did not violate Florida law.
