BRADENTON, FL. - A Bradenton couple is under investigation for child neglect after deputies found their children living in a filthy house.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a home on the 1700 block of Marilyn Ave. around 3:30am Thursday on an unrelated call.

Upon arrival, deputies say the house had no power, the floors covered with animal feces and urine, and the beds infected with bed bugs. There were dishes piled up in the sink and the bathroom floors were covered in urine and feces.

There were two children, aged 14 and 15, living in the home.  They are now temporarily staying with a family friend.

A capias request for Child Neglect was done on the parents, 57-year-old Marvin Nichols and 47-year-old Lori Nichols, which means the State Attorney’s Office will decide on charges. They have not yet been arrested.
