MANATEE COUNTY - Concerned citizens voiced their opinions on the controversial Long Bar Pointe project Tuesday night.

That meeting lasted 12 hours, and at 2 am commissioners finally voted. Two amendments were up for a vote and in the end it was a split decision. Manatee County commissioners voted unanimously against allowing a marina to be built at the site. Also, commissioners will not allow developers to build on environmentally sensitive areas.

The commission then voted 4-3 to allow developers to change the use of the land from residential to mixed use.

The land is already approved for homes and retail space.

Developers are expected to start construction soon and it could have a big impact on how you get around.
