BRADENTON, Fla. - Manatee County Sheriff's detectives have now issued an arrest warrant for a man they believe is hiding out in South America after killing his ex-girlfriend in Bradenton last month.

Detectives believe 24-year-old Andres Collazos is in hiding in Columbia.  He became a person of interest when detectives learned he fled the U.S. on a flight from Ft. Lauderdale to Columbia the same day that his ex-girlfriend, 30-year-old Jazmin Catano, was found dead.

Since that time detectives have gathered enough evidence to charge Collazos with murder. A judge has sealed the warrant for investigative reasons. Information contained in the warrant could hamper the case if released to the public.

At approximately midnight on Sunday, June 23rd, deputies responded to suspicious circumstances at a home in the 5900 block of 36th Street West in Bradenton. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the body of Catano.

Authorities were called by Catano’s ex-husband, who went to the residence to drop off their child. When no one answered the door, he entered the residence and saw evidence of a crime. Deputies found Catano in a bedroom with signs of trauma to her body.

Anyone with information is asked to call MSO at 941-747-3011, ext. 2518 or Crime Stoppers at 866-634-TIPS.
