Bradenton officer injured after hit head on by suspect in stolen car

HOLMES BEACH, FL. - A Bradenton Beach police officer is still recovering after a suspect allegedly stole a car and crashed head on into him.

Holmes Beach Police say that state troopers notified them that they had tracked a car stolen in North Carolina to Marina Drive in Holmes Beach.

As police from several agencies tried to surround the car, it took off and plowed into the Bradenton Beach Police car on Holmes Boulevard.

Police say that officer suffered very serious injuries.

The 24-year-old woman police say drove the stolen car, Amanda Varner, faces a long list of charges. She also had warrants out for her arrest in North Carolina.
