Bradenton man charged with killing his wife

MANATEE COUNTY - A former Suncoast police officer is behind bars after authorities say he killed his wife Monday night.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded around 7pm to a 911 call of an apparent domestic related shooting in the 2300 block of 45th Court West in Bradenton.

Deputies arrived to find 68-year-old Thomas Fleming outside of the house, and the deceased body of his wife, 67-year-old Claire Fleming, inside.

Thomas Fleming was taken into custody and is being charged with Murder. The investigation continues and at this time, the motive for the shooting is unclear.

A neighbor called 911 after speaking to Thomas Fleming after the incident.

Fleming is a former officer with the Bradenton Police Department.
