MANATEE COUNTY - For the third time in less than three months, someone has drowned off a Suncoast shore, pulled under by rip currents and swept out to sea.

Sunday morning, searchers found the body of a 14-year-old boy who disappeared in strong surf off Anna Maria Island on Saturday afternoon.

A Coast Guard helicopter joined the Manatee County Sheriff's Office and Holmes Beach Police in the search for Dushay Nelson. He and his brother, visiting the area from Winter Haven, were playing in water off Willow Avenue that was only knee deep when the current caught them.

His brother made it back to shore, Dushay did not.

The sheriff's office says this area is notorious for rip currents. "These things can happen basically at any time, and that’s what we try to warn people. But it’s tough because this family was just here enjoying a 4th of July holiday weekend," says Dave Bristow.

Back on April 20th, a 6-year-old drowned off Coquina Beach on the same island. And in June a 19-year-old man died in the waters off Lido Key in Sarasota County.
