MANATEE COUNTY (WWSB) - In an effort to making sure Suncoast residents are prepared for an active shooter situation, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office is hosting a civilian active shooter training.

The training on Thursday is one of three active shooter training's in March for locals.

All three of the training courses are fully booked.

This comes after several school threats in Manatee County as well as tragic shootings across the country.

Thursday's training has close to 40 Suncoast residents where they'll learn how to defend themselves in the case of an active shooter.

They'll also learn what an active shooter situation is, the mentality of an active shooter, and what their response should be if found in that situation.

The next training will be next on april 5th.
