MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. -- It's a situation that no one likes — dogs and cats packed into a shelter waiting to find their forever home.
"We have no space to keep piling in animals when we can't get them out," said Samantha Wolfe, the volunteer coordinator for Manatee County Animal Services.
There are more animals in the shelter than it's designed for. We are told that the maximum number of dogs Animal Services should have in the shelter is around 80, but as of Friday they have 101. They also have 70 cats when realistically they should only have around 40.
Manatee County Animal Services will be open this weekend, waiting to welcome those willing to adopt. Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Sunday they will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
