Manatee County Animal Services in need of artificial turf

MANATEE COUNTY, FL (WWSB) - Manatee County Animal Services is in need of artificial turf to improve their facilities. Currently, the animal shelter in Palmetto only has dirt in their front yard areas.

They received a quote from EasyTurf in Ellenton for $40,000 for two play yards. That's why Friends of Manatee County Animal Services is starting the "Field of Dreams" campaign. The goal is to have the funds to begin the new year.

"The EasyTurf surfaces eliminates an environment for insects such as fire ants and fleas. It also eliminates the grass pollens that typically bother dogs with sensitive paws, skin and breathing problems," said Vice President Kassandra Zess-Pagel.

Artificial turf provides a welcoming and clean appearance to the facility. The animal shelter says that a clean and healthy dog equals successful adoptions.

Donations can be made online at www.fomcas.org/donate/turf or mailed to 3230 East Bay Dr. #316, Holmes Beach, FL 34217.
