MANATEE Co., Fla (WWSB) -- An 83-year old military veteran accused of killing a woman outside his Parrish home in January was back in court Wednesday.
The attorney for Eugene Matthews was pushing for bond to be set before his May trial.
A judge decided that Eugene Matthews will remain behind bars without bond.
Matthews has been charged in the second degree murder of 65-year old Rebecca Rawson.
Rawson and other family members went to retrieve a dog that belonged to her estranged late husband at the Parrish home of Matthews.
That's when Matthews came out firing where one of the bullets struck and killed Rawson.
Matthews claims they crashed through a gate and invaded his property without his permission.
Matthews trial is expected to take place in the middle of May.
