TAMPA, FL. - An 8-year-old Tampa girl helped her mother deliver her newborn brother thanks to a 911 dispatcher.
According to Tampa Fire Rescue, the girl's mother was in labor at home on Wisconsin Ave. in South Tampa Monday morning when she called 911.
The 911 dispatcher alerted paramedics while she expertly and compassionately talked the mother and her 8-year-old daughter through the delivery while they waited for medical assistance to arrive.
When Tampa Fire Rescue paramedics arrived shortly after, they successfully delivered the baby boy and then transferred mother and son to Tampa General Hospital for follow-up care.
Both mother and son are doing fine.
