Saturday morning, Dec. 15, 2012, Sarasota Military Academy cadets and other local volunteers placed wreaths on the graves of men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces as part of the greater Wreaths Across America project at the Sarasota National Cemetery, located at 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota. At 9:30 AM, wreaths were placed against each headstone in the cemetery.  At 11:30 AM, an observance was conducted  to honor the sacrifices of those U.S. servicemen and women. SMA cadets were in uniform to perform the solemn ceremony attended by a large crowd of observers there to show their respect.

After the holidays, the SMA cadets will be looking for help cleaning up the wreaths on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 9:30 AM.

To volunteer, contact Col. William Brockman at 941-232-4221.
