SARASOTA, FL. - Detectives with the Sarasota Police Department are currently conducting a death investigation after a decomposed body was found Wednesday afternoon.

The body was found around 1:30 pm by workers cutting bushes at the Centennial Park and Boat Ramp at 10th Street and U.S. 41 in Sarasota.

It is believed the badly decomposed, unidentified body has been in the area for at least several days. The workers cut the bushes weekly and told investigators they did not notice anything out of the ordinary last week.

The medical examiner will have the body removed and an autopsy will be completed to determine the cause of death. More information will be released when it becomes available.
