SARASOTA - A worker at the Sarasota Military Academy construction site was injured while painting a building Wednesday morning.  He later died from those injuries.

According to Sarasota Police, the man was alone in a power lift machine while painting a building on campus, located on Orange Avenue at 10th Street.

For unknown reasons he became pinned between the lift and the building.  Witnesses at the scene lowered the machine and removed him, and called 911.

He was unconscious and taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital for his injuries, but was later pronounced dead.

The man is an employee of Service Painting of Florida.

OSHA will investigate the scene and construction will resume.
