Woman injured after driving off interstate on-ramp

SARASOTA - A Bradenton woman was seriously injured Wednesday night after losing control of her SUV on the Fruitville Road on-ramp to I-75.

It happened around 9:25pm.  According to Florida Highway Patrol, 44-year-old Angela Patterson entered the on-ramp from the eastbound lanes of Fruitville Road but failed to maintain the curve as it turns south.

Her SUV went off the left side of the on-ramp, struck two trees and a concrete podium, and went through the fence of the DOT cell tower.

Patterson was flown via helicopter to Blake Medical Center in Bradenton for treatment to serious injuries.

Charges are pending an investigation and blood-alcohol results.
