Woman charged with Attempted Murder in Sarasota shooting

SARASOTA, Fla. - Deputies have arrested a woman they say shot another woman behind a Southgate business Friday night.

52-year-old Louise Adkins of Sarasota has been charged with Attempted Murder.

According to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, around 11pm Friday,  the female victim was in a business in the 3100 block of Southgate Circle, which is the traffic circle at Tuttle Avenue and Siesta Drive, and heard noises coming from behind the business.

When she went to investigate, she says she was confronted by Adkins, who fired one shot her and hit her.

The victim was able to summon assistance and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Adkins is currently held in the Sarasota County Jail.
