Woman arrested for cutting woman with box cutter

SARASOTA - A stabbing in the Rosemary District of Sarasota left one person injured, and one person in custody.

It happened around 6:22pm Monday in the 900 block of Central Avenue, across from the Salvation Army complex.

According to the Sarasota Police Department, 32-year-old Sheri Tolbert has been arrested after she and another transient woman began fighting.  Tolbert had a folding box cutter and managed one deep wound in the arm and two other minor injuries to the victim.

An officer on foot patrol came upon the incident in progress and pulled Tolbert off the victim.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment via ambulance.

Tolbert has been charged with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon.
