SARASOTA CO., Fla. (WWSB) - A middle school teacher in North Port has killed herself after shooting her husband, who survived, in an attempted murder and suicide, police said.
North Port police say they found Holly "Morgan" Fisher, 46, dead at her home on the 4200 block of Doblins Road at 12:20 a.m. Saturday. They also found her husband, Jason Fisher, 46, with a gunshot wound to the hand an chest.
Holly took her own life after firing at her husband, investigators said. Police are calling it an attempted murder and suicide. Jason Fisher was taken to a local hospital where he is in stable condition.
Holly is a well known teacher at Heron Creek Middle School. She taught 6th grade world history. The Fishers have three teenage children.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and these are the only details they will release at this time.
The Sarasota County School District will have grief counselors available for students and staff on Monday morning.
