SIEASTA KEY, Fla. – The last day of the 6th Annual Fiesta on Siesta Key volleyball tournament wrapped up Sunday afternoon. Teams from 32 colleges and universities participated in the competition, including 16 of the best Division 1 NCAA sand volleyball programs with over 380 athletes combined. This tournament is the largest in the country for collegiate sand volleyball. Competition Director, Dave Carstenson, said there's a reason why Siesta Key Beach has been the venue for the last five years...it has "crystal white sand that the players love. It's a jumpers beach!" Organizers said this will be a huge economic impact for Sarasota, as it has been for the last 5 years. This event is a 'stay to play tournament' for coaches and players alike, which also helps the competition director getting the officials they need to call these matches. Professional volleyball player Priscilla Lima said this tourney will be held here for a for years to come and benefit all who participate in it. Lima said “The more we grow the more the tourney grows, the more the sport grows...(the more) they will come back!".
