VENICE, Fla. -- The City of Venice will be updating its Code Red system next month.

The system is used to alert residents via phone calls or texts of things like hurricane evacuations, flooding or boil water notices.

Venice will be testing its Code Red system on Friday, September 12 from 10am to 4pm. Officials say to expect a call at some point during that timeframe. If nobody answers, the system will leave a voicemail.

The city has been provided an initial database of residential and business telephone numbers, however all residents living within the city limits are encouraged to visit www.venicegov.com and click on “emergency notification” at the bottom of the page, and then click on the CodeRED Residential and Business Data Collection Page to enroll or add contact information including cell phone numbers, text and email addresses.
