VENICE, Fla. - A Venice man is facing Aggravated Battery charges after police say he had a physical altercation with a friend while intoxicated.

The incident happened in the 1000 block of Venetian Parkway after 1am Sunday morning.

According to the Venice Police Department, 21-year-old Pedro Marcos-Dominguez was visiting people at the house and had become intoxicated.

After a friend of his had gone to bed for the night, witnesses say Marcos-Dominguez began banging on the friend's door then attacked him when he opened the door.

After being separated from the victim, Marcos-Dominguez later returned to the room with a knife and fought with the victim again.  No stabbing occurred during the fight.

Marcos-Domiguez then reportedly grabbed a meat cleaver and headed for the room again before witnesses once again stopped him.

Officers later arrested him in another bedroom.

He has been charged with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon.
