VENICE, Fla. -- City leaders in Venice are working to improve the parking situation in the city.

The city council voted Thursday to spend nearly $48,000 to design two beach lots near Sharky's and the Venice Fishing Pier. The council is also looking at a third location to make parking improvements.

The city hopes the added lots will attract more tourists to the area.

The money for the parking projects will come from city reserves.
