VENICE, FL- A Venice tradition is in jeopardy of being canceled due to lack of participation.  Organizers for the Venice Christmas Boat Parade say unless more boaters sign up, the parade could come to an end.

The Sun Herald newspaper is reporting that committee members are sending out a plea to the public to get involved.  The annual event has been going on since 1989.  41 boaters took part in the first boat parade, and since then the numbers have grown.

But this year they've had a low number of participants.  The committee will have a meeting on Thursday night to discuss the boat parade.  If you are interested in submitting your boat for the Christmas boat parade, call 941-207-1010.
