VENICE, Fla. - The City of Venice has approved a plan to find a potential developer for the circus arena property.
The search will begin on April 1st, giving a 45-day window for potential developers and investors to respond.
The Venice Circus Arts Foundation was given five years to come up with the funds to rehabilitate the facility but has been unable to do so. Last year, the dilapidated arena was partially demolished for safety reasons.
Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus leased the building from 1960 to 1993. The site has stood vacant for more than a decade.
