MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A committee looking into building a veterans nursing home has passed on two proposed sites in Manatee County.

The group is favoring sites in St. Lucie, Marion and Collier counties.

Two sites in Bradenton were offered up by the county as possible locations, but the Florida Department of Veterans Affairs put the Suncoast locations at the bottom of the list.

According to the Bradenton Herald, the VA plans to build more nursing homes throughout the state over the next few years.
