SARASOTA, FL. – A new state of the art science lab has opened on the Suncoast.

Officials at USF Sarasota-Manatee helped cut the ribbon on the new 1.5 million-dollar science lab at Mote Marine Laboratory.

The university is partnering with Mote to offer students real-world science courses, as well as launching its new Bachelor of Science in biology degree starting next fall.

The biology degree program is the first research program in science at USFSM and officially starts in the fall semester of 2014. New students may apply for admission to the program now, and current students may declare biology as a major at any time.
