SARASOTA - The popular manager from New Dynasty Chinese Restaurant in Sarasota has died, according to family sources. Andrew Tian had been in grave condition since last Sunday night after three men reportedly beat him up in a neighboring parking lot when Tian chased after them for not paying their bill.

Tian's longtime girlfriend, Marylou Anderson, has announced that Tian passed away Friday from his severe head injuries.

"I am heartbroken to announce that Andrew Tian died today from severe head injuries and trauma. If he had a flaw, it was that he cared too much. That's what got him killed," said Anderon.

Meanwhile detectives aren't getting many good tips and don't have any surveillance video or photos.

This story has generated a ton of conversation on our social media pages, with many people saying that they know Tian and what a great guy he is.

We spoke with one of the owners of New Dynasty of Friday who echoes those comments.

“He’s a really nice guy; one of the nicest guys I’ve known. Very kind hearted, and treats everybody the same. Every customer that comes in, they would ask for Andrew. He’s just a very good person,” said Yang Lu.

At the restaurant Friday night, regular customers were heartbroken.

"He was amazing. A great guy to us. He went over and beyond," said Jennifer Aranda Burgos. It is not going to be the same walking in there and not seeing him behind the counter."

"I feel very sad. We just saw him last week. He's a wonderful man and did not deserve this," said Marisela Trevino.

"I just found out now. It's crazy. I really thought he would make it through. I feel bad for his family and everybody," said Peter Perez.

So here is what we do know about the incident:

The suspects are three males in their 20's. Shortly after Tian was seen chasing after the men around 9:30pm Sunday, witnesses in the restaurant reported hearing tires squeal.

One of the suspects has a pierced eyebrow and lip. Another has a rosary tattoo on his wrist and hand.

A reward is being offered by Sarasota County Crime Stoppers and the restaurant totaling $2,000. If anyone has information that can lead authorities to an arrest, contact Crime Stoppers at 941-366-TIPS.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
