LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. - The principal at Imagine School in Lakewood Ranch is on paid administrative leave, accused of failing to report child abuse to the state after children reportedly engaged in oral sex in the school.
The Manatee County Sheriff's Office is reportedly recommending charges against Principal Selenia Quinones. The sheriff's office confirms it has turned the case over to the State Attorney's Office.
It is alleged that a four year old student at the school engaged in oral sex with another student.
According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, witnesses told law enforcement that the principal knew about the alleged abuse.
However, in a new report issued by the Imagine School Board on Wednesday, the investigation states, "There is not one piece of evidence, nor are there independent witnesses to substantiate the claim."
The claim was made by a student two months after the alleged incident took place. The young man told his mother he witnessed one boy perform oral sex on the other. What is known to have happened, is that last April, three 4-year-old boys were showing each other their private parts during class. The Board's investigation claims that Quinones and each parent was made aware of the situation.
"The incident was investigated immediately and consistently," states the report. "The parents were made aware of what had happened the same day and the situation was handled and documented."
Imagine School in Lakewood Ranch is a private charter school serving pre-kindergarten students through 8th Grade.
