UPDATE: North Port Police Officer Involved Shooting

**UPDATE** The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has identified the shooting victim as 57-year-old James Duttman of Pembroke Pines, Florida. The investigation is ongoing.

NORTH PORT-- We now know the name of the North Port Police officer involved in a deadly shooting.

Officer Aaron Nick, a 19-year veteran of the force, shot and killed an unknown person in a car near Interstate 75 and Toledo Blade Boulevard late Tuesday night.

Police Chief Kevin Vespia said the 43 year old Nick is on paid administrative leave.  Nick says he approached the "suspicious" looking car and the person had a gun out, but no other details were released.

The North Port Police Dept. has handed over the investigation to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.
