**UPDATE** The alleged victim in this reported abduction attempt has recanted her story, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office.  The case is now closed.

NORTH PORT, FL-  The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a possible abduction attempt.

According to a deputy's report, it happened just before midnight Thursday at the intersection of Capilla Lane and San Lorenzo Avenue in North Port.  The female juvenile told deputies she was looking at her cell phone when a man ran up to her and grabbed her arm, throwing her to the ground.

The young said the suspect then jumped on top of her and hit her across the face before putting his hand over her mouth.  The victim was able to kick the suspect and yell, scaring the suspect away.

The victim then ran to a neighbors home and called police.  A K-9 unit was called in to track the suspect but no one was found.  The suspect is described as a black male about 6 foot 3 inches tall with a shaved head.  He is said to be in his late 20's or early 30's.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crimestoppers at 941-366-TIPS.
