MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. (WWSB) - Troopers are searching for the driver of a vehicle that hit a bicyclist in a Sarasota crosswalk Monday morning.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Miguel Marin, 18, was crossing the street on his bicycle at 7:18 a.m. An unidentified driver failed to see him and hit him on the left side. The incident occurred on the southbound side of the crosswalk at the intersection of US 41 (SR 45) and Orlando Avenue.
After hitting Marin, reports say, the vehicle made a right turn heading northbound on US 41 (SR 45) where it left the scene. Marin obtained minor injuries in the collision.
The vehicle was described to troopers as a possible older model Toyota Celica that is red in color. Information regarding the driver is unknown at this time.
The crosswalk signal was set to allow pedestrian crossing at the time of the incident, the report say.
