SARASOTA - Police are investigating two strong armed robberies that happened an hour apart early Saturday morning.

The first happened just after midnight on Saturday morning on Bon Air Avenue in the Indian Beach/Sapphire Shores neighborhood.  According to Sarasota Police, a male and female were walking home from a nearby pub when two men pulled up in a car and jumped out.

They pushed the couple to the ground and one suspect punched the male victim in the head twice.  The female's purse was taken and the two suspects fled the scene in their car.

The only description the victims could provide was that one of the suspects was a black male with short puffy hair and clean shaven.

About an hour later, another man was the victim of strong arm robbery along Tuttle Walkway Park, just off Tuttle Avenue at 8th Street.

The victim told police he had been riding his bike along the trail and was stopped when two Hispanic males approached him, hit him in the face, and threatened to shot him.  The victim threw his wallet and items on the ground, and the suspects took them and warned the victim not to snitch.

The suspects were described as Hispanic males, both 5' 7" and skinny with black hair.  One was wearing a hoodie, the other a white t-shirt.

Police say it is unknown if the two crimes are related.
