SARASOTA - For the second time in just a week, lightning strikes too close for comfort on the Suncoast.

Medics rushed two people to Sarasota Memorial Hospital Wednesday afternoon after a tree they were standing near was struck by lightning, according to Captain Pearson with the Sarasota County Fire Department.

The victims suffered a "jolt" in the incident, and are in stable condition.

It happened at the YMCA Potter Park branch near Sarasota Square Mall.

This incident comes just two days after lightning struck near a Bradenton family's tent.
