PALMETTO, Fla. - Two Palmetto men walking to a nearby gas station were held up at gunpoint Sunday.

It happened late Sunday night near the RaceTrac gas station at the 2100 block of U.S. 41 in Palmetto.

According to a Manatee County Sheriff's Office report, an unknown man approached the two men and pistol whipped one of the victims on the back of his head.  The second victim saw the incident happen and ran away.

The suspect demanded the first victims wallet.  The victim gave the suspect his wallet and the suspect ran away.  Deputies were called and searched the area but could not find the suspect.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
