NORTH PORT, Fla. - Two students at Imagine School North Port were arrested Tuesday and charged with having an unloaded handgun on school campus.

The North Port Police Department was contacted around 3:39pm Tuesday after a student told a teacher that a 13-year-old student was in possession of a 9mm gun in class.

Further investigation revealed that a 12-year-old student had brought the gun into school and transferred it to the 13-year-old.

Both students were charged with Possession of a Firearm While on School Property. They were arrested and transported to the North Sarasota County Jail where they are being detained by the Division of Juvenile Justice.
