SARASOTA, Fla. - We're learning more about what caused the SWAT situation that forced the closure of 17th Street in Sarasota for several hours Monday morning.

Sarasota Police have arrested two men, 28-year-old Francisco Serrano and 26-year-old Pastor Mendiola-Martinez, on felony Sexual Battery charges after a woman says they raped her in Serrano's apartment.

According to a police report, the victim says she was with the men at a restaurant early Sunday morning looking to borrow gas money from them.  They all had been drinking, and Serrano offered to let the woman sleep at his apartment to avoid driving after drinking.

The victim says that once they arrived at the apartment, the two men undressed her and began having sex with her despite her objections.

Afterward, Mendiola-Martinez got dressed and left, and the victim got dressed and texted a friend for help.  That's when she said Serrano chased her outside with a shotgun while pantless.  She got in her car and locked the doors.

The victim's friends arrived to find to find Serrano yelling at the victim and pointing the shotgun at her through the window.

Arriving officers later worked with SWAT members to make contact with Serrano inside the 17th Street apartment. Phone calls and bullhorn communication was used and Serrano was arrested without incident.

Mendiola-Martinez was arrested at his home off Fruitville Road in connection to the crime.
