Two injured in Sarasota shooting Monday night

SARASOTA - Authorities are investigating a shooting Monday night that injured two people, one of whom is in critical condition.

It happened in the 1900 block of 32nd Street, near Gillespie Avenue in Sarasota around 11pm.

According to the Sarasota Police Department, officers arrived to find two shooting victims; 23-year-old Marquis Morgan was outside a home, and 20-year-old Quazone Taylor was inside.

Taylor suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was flown via helicopter to Blake Medical Center and was listed in critical condition.

Morgan suffered at least one gunshot wound and was taken via ambulance to Sarasota Memorial for treatment.  He was listed in stable condition.

Police detectives interviewed witnesses and the Sarasota Police Department Criminalistics team collected evidence at the scene.

The Sarasota Police Department is encouraging residents and family members to help stop their loved ones from using handguns to resolve issues. They also ask that if anyone has information about persons illegally in possession of a gun to report it to SPD and we let them handle it.
