SARASOTA COUNTY - Two North Port residents were seriously injured Wednesday morning after rolling their SUV over in a single-vehicle crash.

It happened in the northbound lanes of Interstate 75 a little after 11am near mile marker 201, just past the S.R. 681 on ramp.

FHP says a tire blowout caused the driver to lose control, resulting in the rollover.  The SUV ended up about 30 feet off the roadway after appearing to roll over several times.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the two occupants in the SUV were taken by ground transport to Doctors Hospital in Sarasota for serious injuries.  They have been identified as 41-year-old Jeffery Davis, and 33-year-old Stephanie Sheppard, both of North Port.

The right lane and merge lane were briefly closed off for cleanup, but have since reopened.
