Two escape Venice house fire

VENICE, FL. - Two Venice residents narrowly escaped their home after it went up in flames.

It happened Thursday around 10:30 pm on North Cypress Point Drive.

Fire crews arrived on scene quickly and were able to get it under control.

According to Sarasota County Fire Rescue, the house was severely damaged and is uninhabitable. The Red Cross has been called in to help the family.

Fire investigators are trying to determine what started the fire.
