MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. -- The Florida Department of Veterans Affairs is considering two sites in Manatee County for a new nursing home.

Both sites are owned by the county. One is on the south side of State Road 64 near Lena Road. The other is just south of Cortez Road West, near 66th Street West.

The facility is expected to cost $30 million to build. The federal government will pay $17 million of that cost, with the state picking up the rest.

Manatee County is competing with five other counties who want the facility built in their area.

The site selection announcement will be made July 1st.
