CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. - Two Punta Gorda residents have been arrested after deputies say they stole a 10-week-old puppy from a dog sitter's home.

18-year-old Brooke Durand and 28-year-old Scott Wright have been charged with Grand Theft and the puppy was returned to the victim.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, the teenage owner of the full-blooded red nose pit bull puppy had asked a neighbor to watch the dog overnight Friday.  The neighbor told the victim the next morning that the puppy was missing, and that Durand and Wright had visited the previous evening.

Deputies located the puppy at the Palmerston Avenue home of the two suspects and arrested them.

The victim told deputies that the two suspects had previously approached her about buying the dog, which is valued at over $300, but the owner turned their offer down.
