BRADENTON, Fla. -- Manatee County Sheriff's deputies have made two arrests in the shooting death of a 17-year old girl, and we're learning more about the events that led to the shooting early Monday morning.
19-year-old Jasper Dudley of Bradenton was arrested Monday night and has been charged with murder. 19-year-old Frank Brice of Palmetto turned himself in to deputies Tuesday morning.
According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, Teria'le Rawls, a Riverview High School student, was out with friends earlier in the evening. The group had been at a teen party at a nightclub, then left for a gathering at Bradenton Riverwalk. Upon arrival at Riverwalk they found that the party had moved to the parking lot of the Royal Palm movie theater in Bradenton.
Witnesses say that the group was only at the parking lot a brief amount of time around 2am and quickly decided to leave. As the vehicle that Rawls was in approached the south exit, the occupants heard gunshots and turned to see Rawls bleeding and slumped over.
The driver headed south on U.S. 301 to go to the hospital, but stopped for assistance just south of University Parkway when they came upon an ambulance and FHP unit on the side of the road.
Rawls was pronounced dead at that scene.
A witness at the parking lot told investigators that she witnessed a man firing gunshots from an SUV. She then saw several vehicles fleeing the scene and identified Brice and "Budda" as the men who began firing multiple shots at a fleeing vehicle.
