SARASOTA, Fla. - While the Suncoast won't take a direct hit from Tropical Storm Karen, conditions on the water raise some concern.

Beachgoers say they're experiencing high waves, and officials say as Karen makes its way north, conditions could get worse.

With that in mind, red flag warnings were issued at area beaches Friday. Officials recommend swimming in groups, and staying aware of advisories.

Lifeguards will be manning area beaches this weekend from 10am to 4:45pm.
