SARASOTA, Fla. -- The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office arrests a man for Grand Theft after locating a stolen tractor valued at $82,000 in his backyard.

On Wednesday night, deputies received an alert ping from Lojack indicating a stolen tractor was in the area of 16051 Whidden Road in Sarasota.  Deputies talked with the home owner, James Trippe, who at first claimed he didn't have the tractor.

Eventually, Trippe consented to a search and the tractor was found next to an outbuilding and partially covered by a tarp.  The tractor, equipped with a backhoe and front loader, was stolen from Hillsborough County on October 18th near I-4 and U.S. 301.

Trippe was released on $7,500 bond Thursday morning.  The investigation is ongoing.
