The South Manatee Business Coalition collected two boxes of toys and $280 in donations at its inaugural holiday social to benefit Toys for Tots.
“As a retired Marine Colonel—Toys for Tots is a part of our Marine Corps culture and Esprit De Corps. We have all been deployed to some very poor countries and have seen the devastation that war brings to children. Marines vow each year to make sure that no American child is left without a toy and the comfort it brings at Christmas… I was proud and honored to host the South Manatee Business Coalition toy drive at my Budweiser Hospitality Center in Lakewood Ranch!“,Colonel John W Saputo USMCR and Pres/Owner-Gold Coast Eagle Distributing
The Dec. 13 event, hosted by Gold Coast Eagle, attracted over 50 business owners and featured U.S. Marines in their dress blues. Toys for Tots was founded by the Marines in 1948 and distributes more than 16 million toys annually to needy children worldwide.
Additional Toys for Tots donations can be dropped off at the Marine Corps League Desoto #588 headquarters, 5225 26th St. W., Bradenton, or at collection boxes at local post offices.
