Bradenton Police estimate 300-400 spectators were at the park to watch the Manatee Mustangs take part in their first practice of the season. No other injuries were reported.

Zimmerman pulled over with gun in car in Texas

A Texas officer pulled over George Zimmerman for speeding Sunday in Kaufman County, Texas. During the stop Zimmerman informed the officer that he had a gun in the glove box.

Worker dies from injuries in lift accident at SMA

According to Sarasota Police, the man was alone in a power lift machine while painting a building on campus, located on Orange Avenue at 10th Street.

Boy injured in escalator fall at the mall

According to Sarasota Fire Rescue, the child fell from the side of the escalator to the ground below. The child was conscious at the scene, but had to be airlifted to the hospital to be treated.

Worker who died at SMA identified

Police say 55-year-old Mitch Phelps was about 20-30 feet high in a hydraulic snorkel lift Wednesday morning when other workers found him slumped over at the torso area. A report says he was unresponsive and appeared to be trapped.

Chicken sandwich lovers camp out in hopes of free food for year

The first 100 people were given the opportunity to stay outside of the new restaurant for 24 hours, until it opens at 6am Thursday tomorrow. If they make it through the heat, humidity and possible rain, they will be awarded a free Chick-fil-A sandwich, waffle fries and a medium drink for a year.
