Toddler the victim of an accidental drowning in Ellenton

MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. - Detectives are investigating what they are calling an accidental drowning at an Ellenton home Thursday.

It happened around 11:20am in a home on 47th Court East in the Oakleaf Hammock community.

According to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office, the 19-month-old female victim was in the bath with her 3-year-old brother when the mother left the room to get something from another part of the house.

When she returned, she found the girl underwater and unresponsive.  She took the girl to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Detective say nothing appears suspicious at this time.
