SARASOTA - We want to congratulate three Sarasota swimmers on their recent gold and silver medals. All placed at last weekend's 2012 Special Olympics state aquatics championship.

11 Special Olympians traveled from Sarasota County to the games in Sebastian, Florida.

Charles Smith took silver in the 25 meter freestyle, Rachel Crauwels and Erik Esclangon won gold for their division in the same race.

ABC 7’s own sunrise and noon anchor, Hayley Wielgus, is a certified swimming coach for the Special Olympics and travelled with the team last weekend.
